The GRES was founded in 1963 when a group of Radio Amateurs saw the need to further advance their and others’ skills and knowledge in an ever-widening range of fields of electronics. This continues today, as our Club offers members opportunities to learn and share special interests in new technologies.

We are celebrating our club’s 60th Anniversary this year!

We are enthusiastic not just about Amateur Radio and its many traditional and new digital modes, but also in a broad range of electronic applications such as Micro-controllers, 3D printing, Robotic devices and related software, as these become more interestingly complex yet more accessible than ever to the ordinary person.

In December 2019 the City of Greater Geelong unexpectedly took possession of our building and deemed it unsafe for use, which was strange as it had served us well for the previous 23 years. We are yet to secure a new permanent home for the club but will update this page when information becomes available.

We are currently meeting on Tuesday evenings at the Annexe, South Barwon Community Centre, 33 Mt Pleasant Rd, Belmont, from 19:00 Hrs (7:00 pm) or alternatively online via our Zoom option for those who may prefer not to attend in person.

If you have an interest in or just a fascination about Electronics or Amateur Radio, why not check out our calendar here for our meeting times and join us for a coffee and chat. Whether you are a current or lapsed Radio Amateur or just curious, we guarantee you will come away learning something new and amazing.

If that whets your appetite and you are interested in developing a hobby in radio and electronics, then we welcome you to apply for club membership. For further information, please contact us.
